Oh my ... I felt like an Arabian Princess in the middle of GeorgeTown ... although arriving late I didn't realise I really was in the middle of it all ... or at least very close to everything I needed to be. On arriving my greeting was warm and genuine and I was shown to my beautiful ground floor room .. WITH .. Ta-Da .. a door that opened to the lovely little pool area. I loved my room .. spacious, clean and the decor and style of the room and the accommodation as a whole reminded me of the Riads I had stayed in whilst travelling through Morocco (I later learnt that the Mansion had been built in this style). From the Mansion it was just a short stroll to all that I needed to see and do in the old Town and not too far to walk to the modern conveniences .. like the Paradigm Mall for a bit of shopping therapy. Oh and also close to a great self-service laundry (Busy-Bee???) and also close to seriously the best cafe for coffee, b'fast and delicious indulgences .. definitely must Emily Darling on your travel plan. Would definitely recommend Jaws Peranaken Mansions for short stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at this property. Even though it’s only street parking we never had any issues finding a spot right outside the property (make sure you download the parking app!! A lot of the parking is not free in the larger towns in Malaysia apparently ..it is very cheap but you need to pay in the app) The location was walking distance to a lot of the sights we wanted to see and a plethora of amazing food, street markets, and shopping, it felt very safe, very quiet within the grounds, we always had the pool to ourselves when we were there to cool off midday. The room was great, perfectly decorated with a very comfortable bed and one of the best showers we had on our 4 month trip. The staff was very kind, always helpful and clearly put in a lot of work keeping the property maintained. Would stay again.

Coffee and tea was available, but breakfast was not offered. There were many Chinese coffee places that open as early as 6am within a a block or two. There were also many other restaurants walking distance from our hotel's location. I had to walk farther to get to the shopping area. The bed was a lot firmer than I'm used to but we had such active days that I would sleep pretty soundly anyway. It was just the first night that I had issues. A friend and I shared a very spacious room with two king beds. It had a nice sitting area. I arrived very late to check-in. I'm glad someone was there to help me with keys and luggage. There is no elevator to the second floor in this beautifully restored mansion. The front desk staff was always helpful when we had questions.

We deliberately chose a heritage property and this hotel looked just right. Very pretty courtyard setting and traditional feel to the whole place. We had a spacious mansion room on the first floor Rm6. This had high ceilings and a screened lounge area as you entered the room . The fan and air con was efficient. Good walk in shower and the water was warm. Small fridge and safe provided plus some soft drinks. Tea and coffee was available downstairs in the reception area. Small pool available which we used most afternoons to cool off. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location pretty good with a 15/20 min walk to main areas.

Having stayed there before, we had high expectations and these were exceeded this trip. Although they do not serve breakfast anymore, the range of local breakfast venues combined with the short walk in the balmy weather was not a problem. The manager Muiz was nothing short of outstanding. He assisted with a room upgrade, parking, eating venues, etc. Relaxing and the place has a older colonial Chinese style feel and calmness about it. We look forward to returning.
